On September 11, 2024, NewJeans took everyone by surprise by launching a surprise live stream on a brand new YouTube channel, separate from the official company account. Years They also shared that the situation had escalated to the point that a leader of another group had ordered his members to “ignore it” when she encountered them in the hallway near the makeup rooms. Hanni said that after she reported this incident to ADOR’s current CEO, Ju Young Kim, she was told that there was no evidence to support her claim.

Although Hanni did not mention any specific group or provide any details that could give rise to speculation, netizens’ questions were answered on September 12, 2024, when the Korean Central News Agency Hankyung News Market Insights described in detail the events reported during the matter.
What really was the final nail in the coffin to break the trust between NewJeans and HYBE was the “greeting controversy” that happened between them and the manager of girl group HYBE ILLIT. It happened about 3 months before, around June. At the time, it was right after Min Hee Jin won the legal battle against HYBE. NewJeans Hanni explained in a live broadcast on September 11 that “a manager of an artist group HYBE told her members to ignore her.” It seems she is referring to ILLIT’s manager.

The article further explained that NewJeans parents had brought the issue of the girls allegedly being bullied internally to the executives of ADOR and HYBE, asking to talk, so that the matter could be resolved smoothly. The matter reportedly could not be resolved as both sides interpreted it differently. Hankyung News states that HYBE reviewed approximately 7-8 minutes of CCTV footage of the situation and the findings were that the footage captured Hanni and ILLIT greeting each other, while they were unable to identify the footage that captured Hanni’s accusations against the manager. Although NewJeans parents had allegedly raised the issue to the executives, it did not become known in the company due to lack of evidence.
