Veteran Chinese actor Hu Ge, 43, has revealed personal insights into his family life and emotional struggles, admitting he feels like a “failure” when it comes to balancing his roles as an actor, husband and father.
In a recent interview to promote his latest film Three drops of bloodHu Ge confirmed publicly for the first time that he is now the father of two children: a daughter and a recently born son. However, the famous actor also confessed to feelings of guilt and inadequacy, stating: “I’m a failure. I haven’t been able to balance work and family well.”
Hu Ge said the demands of his filming schedule often keep him away from home, making him feel absent during his children’s formative years. “I’m out filming most of the time and I miss them growing up,” he said.
In one particularly touching anecdote, Hu Ge recalled a time when he took his daughter to a movie set because he couldn’t bear the separation. On reflection, he admitted that the decision was unwise and he now deeply regrets it.
