Hong Kong’s entertainment industry has been rocked by news that a singer and actor identified as Kris Law Kai-chung (35) has been arrested on serious drug-related charges. According to a Sohu report on January 7, police arrested Kris Law Kai-chung and two accomplices during a raid on the site, uncovering illegal substances worth approximately HK$7.74 million.
Authorities revealed that in the early hours of January 3, police launched an urgent operation and raided a residential property in Yuen Long, Hong Kong. Although the location appeared to be an ordinary house, it was allegedly being used as a highly dangerous illegal drug production site. Kris Law Kai-chung was caught in the act together with two accomplices, a man and a woman aged between 21 and 35.

The anti-narcotics unit confiscated a large quantity of illegal substances on site, with a total value estimated at HK$7.74 million. During interrogation, Kris Law Kai-chung allegedly admitted that the illegal operation began in December 2025. To evade law enforcement, he and his accomplices allegedly relied on encrypted messaging apps and cryptocurrency transactions, forming what police described as a “closed criminal circuit” designed to leave no trace. Investigators are still looking for the alleged instigator of the operation.
On January 5, Kris Law Kai-chung and the other two suspects were formally charged. The court adjourned the trial to March 31 to allow further investigation. Under Hong Kong law, manufacturing or trafficking illegal drugs is considered an extremely serious crime, carrying a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of up to HK$5 million. Given the amount of drugs seized in this case, Kris Law Kai-chung may have to spend the rest of his life behind bars if convicted.

Following the police announcement, Hong Kong’s entertainment industry moved quickly to distance itself from the scandal, with broadcasters and platforms reportedly imposing a permanent ban on the artist. Before his arrest, Kris Law Kai-chung was considered a promising musical talent. It had previously ranked in the Top 20 of Creator King Season 1 and was praised for his songwriting and instrumental skills.
In 2019, Kris Law Kai-chung signed with independent music label Note13 Creatives, founded by veteran producer Fong Shu Leung. In addition to his music career, he had also started exploring opportunities in the field of short films making his dramatic fall from grace even more shocking to fans and industry insiders alike.
