In July 2022, the Hong Kong entertainment industry was shaken by a terrible theatrical accident during the Boy Group MirrorConcert. A 600 kg LED screen suspended over the stage suddenly collapsed, hitting dancers.
Among the victims, Mo Li Kai-Yin has undergone the most serious injuries, leaving it permanently paralyzed despite having undergone 10 large surgical interventions to repair damage to the spine and nerves injuries.

On September 2, his father revealed that his son’s conditions are dangerous for life, with serious complications deriving from the accident. Mo Li Kai-Yin has lost the intestinal and bladder function, cannot urinate alone and no longer has the ability to regulate its body temperature. His family must constantly monitor him, using ice to prevent dangerously high fevers.
Mo Li Kai-Yin is currently subjected to advanced treatments abroad, including stem cell therapy and cerebral-computer interface programs, in the hope of regaining a certain mobility. His parents have been at his side in the last three years, transforming the hospital into their second home.
Despite the weak signs of improvement in 2023, when he was able to train with an exoskeleton and showed a small muscle response, his general condition remains critical. The doctors subsequently implanted the stimulation chips of the nerves, but the progress was slow.
In addition to the pain of the family, three contractors responsible for building the stage were acquitted after three years of investigation. Mo’s family expressed indignation, declaring unacceptable that no one was held responsible for the accident that left his son permanently disabled. They filed an appeal, requesting monthly HKD 73,000 compensation (about 9,300 USD) to cover medical costs.
Before the tragedy, Mo Li Kai-Yin was considered one of the most promising dancers and choreographers of Hong Kong. He had worked with the best artists, he entered the spotlight through the survival show King maker In 2018, and later it became MirrorMain dancer.
