On September 11, NewJeans hosted a surprise live broadcast under a new YouTube account instead of an official account.
In the heavy atmosphere, Hyein said, “The reason we decided to go ahead with the live broadcast is that it was very difficult to see people who have achieved so much with us suffering under unfair demands and pressures.”
“I want to say this clearly. This is a livestream that the five of us prepared because we really wanted to say something. We got help from directors we can trust in the parts that we can’t prepare, like the shooting locations,” he said. “Since this is something all five of us are going through, we have the courage to tell our stories directly.”
First, the members expressed their anxiety by conveying the atmosphere inside HYBE. Hanni said, “The 4th floor of the HYBE building is where I get my hair and makeup done, and other employees come and go. One day, I was in the hallway alone, and another team came by with their manager and I said hello. And when they came back, the manager directly said “Ignore her” so I could hear. I don’t understand why I had to go through all this.”
Additionally, NewJeans also spoke out about videos of its interns leaked by Dispatch. “Our private data, such as videos and medical records from when we were interns, were made public. I was really surprised to see them at first,” Haerin said. “I didn’t understand why the company that’s supposed to protect us would expose that data instead of protecting it.”
“Of course, we have no choice but to worry that strange data and false facts may spread in the future,” he said. “We have raised issues with our parents and CEO Min, but HYBE has not resolved them and there has been no active action. In the meantime, the CEO has been fired and we do not know who we should trust and rely on in the future.”
Minji then said, “Of course, we are worried about our future, but it is also scary that the work we have done is being violated,” and spoke about the dispute between Dolphiners director Shin Woo-seok and ADOR. “I hope it doesn’t create unnecessary problems and that it respects the director we worked with,” he said. “What you are doing now is never for us.”
Finally, Haein said, “The way HYBE works is neither honest nor fair, as we live it. Please do not disturb our work. Please bring back CEO Min Hee-jin.” “I do not ask you to do better, but I ask you to do what you have to do in your place and we will do the same.” Danielle also said: “HYBE is considered an inhumane company. What can we learn from it?” Minji asked, “Please restore ADOR to its original state by the 25th.”
