On February 4, actor Ha Jung-woo and Cha Jung-won officially acknowledged their relationship, reigniting attention on a dating rumor that surfaced years ago.
In 2018, an online community sparked dating rumors between Ha Jung-woo and Cha Jung-won after photos believed to show Ha Jung-woo’s pet Bichon Frize were posted on social media accounts belonging to Cha Jung-won and Hwang Bo-ra.
Netizens pointed out that the herringbone floor visible in the photos from both accounts looked identical, citing it as evidence of a romantic relationship. Speculation intensified when it was noted that Hwang Bo-ra’s husband is Ha Jung-woo’s younger brother, Kim Young-hoon, leading some to suggest that Cha Jung-won had visited Ha Jung-woo’s home.
At the time, however, many dismissed the rumors as unfounded due to a lack of concrete evidence. Herringbone flooring is common, and Cha Jung-won herself owns a Bichon Frise. As a result, the dating rumors quietly faded away.
Now, nine years later, those rumors appear to be true. With the relationship officially confirmed, netizens are speculating that the two could be a long-time couple who have been together since the original rumor surfaced.
That day, wedding rumors involving Ha Jung-woo and a non-celebrity began to circulate. Although Ha Jung-woo acknowledged that he was in a relationship, he cautiously stated that marriage was not imminent. Shortly after, it was revealed that his partner is not a non-celebrity, but actress Cha Jung-won.
Cha Jung-won’s agency, Saram Entertainment, confirmed the relationship, stating: “It’s true that they’re dating. But it’s not true that they’re getting married.”
Meanwhile, Ha Jung-woo, born in 1978, recently completed filming for tvN’s upcoming drama How to Become a Building Owner in Korea. Cha Jung-won, born in 1989, made her debut in the 2012 film Horror stories and has since become an icon of fashion and beauty.
