Actress Goo Hye-sun recently impressed netizens by announcing that she received the 30th KAIST Literary Award. It is known that KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) is a major academic institute in Korea.
On December 12, Goo Hye-sun shared a photo of her award certificate on her social media, writing: “I had the honor of receiving the ’30th KAIST Literary Award’ on December 5 for my essay ‘My Neighborhood That Wasn’t Poor’ (tentative translation). I intended to share the joyful news immediately, but due to pressing national issues, I can only express my gratitude now.”
Goo Hye-sun explained the context of her essay, saying: “I grew up in a small village in Incheon, where for over a decade I experienced radiant moments of love with the community that felt more like family than family itself. Even at 40 years old, I still retain the love of those neighbors, who were like family, and the memories inspired me to write this essay as a commitment to live life with a heart untainted by poverty.”
He added, “I am deeply grateful to the KAIST Literary Prize for giving me the opportunity to share stories from my childhood and convey the sanctity of neighborly love to modern readers. I sincerely thank KAIST for recognizing my humble writing.
Goo Hye-sun enrolled in the Film Arts Department of Sungkyunkwan University in 2011, resumed her studies in 2020, and graduated in February. In June, the actress announced her acceptance to KAIST’s graduate program.
On the other hand, Goo Hye-sun debuted as a commercial model in 2002 and gained widespread popularity through the viral drama “Boys Over Flowers”. She married actor Ahn Jae-hyun in 2016 but announced their divorce in 2020.
