On March 9, Gangnam District in Seoul held the 2026 Distinguished Taxpayers Commendation Ceremony at the district office. The ceremony recognized 10 taxpayers who have contributed to the local community through diligent tax payment and were recognized with commendations on the day. Notably, this year’s distinguished contributors include five individuals and five companies, with Yuri among those honored.
Gangnam District annually selects distinguished taxpayers to promote a mature tax culture. The selection applies to individuals, organizations and companies that have a residence or business in Gangnam District. To qualify, applicants must have no tax arrears for the past 10 years and must have faithfully paid at least two local taxes each year for eight consecutive years. Additionally, individuals or organizations must have paid at least 10 million won in taxes in the previous year, while corporations must have paid at least 50 million won. Contributions to the development of the district and the local community are also taken into consideration during the selection process.
Those who are selected as distinguished contributors are known to receive various benefits, including discounts on health checks at partner medical institutions and reduced ticket prices for shows. Meanwhile, recent tax evasion allegations involving celebrities have sparked public debate, with ASTRO member Cha Eun Woo and actor Kim Seon Ho recently facing related controversies.
