English singer-songwriter Sam Smith surprised fans by collaborating with Girls’ Generation‘S Taeyeon.
Sam Smith celebrates the 10th anniversary of his debut album, In the lonely hour. The album contains many hit songs that launched Smith to stardom and were well received around the world, including in South Korea.
To celebrate, Sam Smith is releasing In the lonely hour (10th Anniversary Edition) album, featuring revised versions of their hits. It contains collaborations with other musical artists, such as Alicia Keys AND Hikaru Utada.

Even though the album is set to be released on August 30th at midnight, you can now listen to a revised version of Smith’s hit “I’m Not The Only One,” featuring Taeyeon.

Universal music announced that today, August 29, Sam Smith will release a version of “I’m Not The Only One” with Taeyeon providing Korean vocals. Smith explained that Koreans loved the original song so much that they wanted to gift them this collaboration to express their gratitude.
I have been deeply touched by the continued love that Korean fans have shown for my music, including “I’m Not The Only One.” In response to this love, I asked Taeyeon to provide the Korean vocals for “I’m Not The Only One.” I am truly grateful and happy that Taeyeon has joined this project with her beautiful voice.

Taeyeon also released a statement regarding the collaboration, “I am really happy to be part of Sam Smith’s 10th anniversary album project. There was no reason to turn down the opportunity to collaborate with Sam Smith, who is famous not only in Korea but worldwide. It is a great honor to share their musical talent and passion.” He added, “Especially singing a song I liked in Korean was a new and special experience. I hope this song brings empathy and comfort to many people.”
