Girls’ Generation Reveals Who Earns More: Hyoyeon Says “Yoona and Taeyeon Probably Earn More”

In episode 11 of Jun Hyun-moo’s Plan 3aired on December 26, Jun Hyun-moo and KwakTube (Kwak Jun-bin) teamed up with their “food friend” Hyoyeon for a culinary journey through hidden local restaurants in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province. From a regulars-only sashimi joint with no sign or menu, to grilled calamari and bulgogi chicken, and even an unexpected restaurant specializing in raw monkfish, the trio have dedicated themselves to unconventional food discoveries.

Arriving in Gyeongju, a city full of attractions, activities and food, Jun Hyun-moo confidently declared: “We don’t go to the usual hotspots. From the first stop, we hit up unique, high-end restaurants.” In a place that didn’t even appear in the portal’s searches and that had no sign or menu, the owner initially refused the filming, saying that they only accepted regular customers. Jun Hyun-moo chimed in with a bold request: “Think of us as regulars and give us anything,” eventually getting permission to shoot.

Before the mukbang began, Jun Hyun-moo mixed doenjang, sesame oil, garlic, chili pepper, wasabi, and cho-gochujang to create what he called an “MZ sauce,” immediately heating up the atmosphere. Tasting the flatfish, striped billfish and flounder sashimi, KwakTube exclaimed, “I never expected sashimi in Gyeongju,” while Jun Hyun-moo boasted, “This is how we catch people off guard” with brand trust.

After warming up with some “morning sashimi,” the two met up with Hyoyeon and headed to the next restaurant. In a quiet neighborhood, far from the tourist areas, they were shocked to find 12 teams already lined up. When the grilled calamari and chicken bulgogi finally arrived, all three couldn’t hide their delight, praising the intense charcoal aroma.

During the meal, Hyoyeon shared updates on her career, saying: “Last year I did two DJ tours in the Americas. I perform under the name DJ HYO.” He added a funny anecdote: “In France, people find ‘Hyo’ difficult to pronounce, so they kept calling me ‘Yo-nyeon, Yo-nyeon.’ At first I didn’t even realize they were calling me.”

As he headed to the next spot, KwakTube bluntly asked: “Aren’t Girls’ Generation famous for being the only girl group in the late ’30s where no one got married yet?” Hyoyeon answered honestly, “Everyone’s been so busy,” adding, “But somehow, I feel that I will get married soon. I dream of marriage.”

At the raw monkfish specialty restaurant, the group enjoyed generous portions of boiled and braised monkfish, showering the food with praise. There, Hyoyeon asked the KwakTube newlyweds about his baby plans, and he shyly replied, “Soon,” drawing laughter. Jun Hyun-moo chimed in jokingly, “I heard Hyoyeon’s goal is to become a ‘birth influencer’.”

The wedding talk has only intensified. When Jun Hyun-moo asked her at what age she wanted to get married, Hyoyeon replied, “I think I should do it before I’m 39. What do you think?” Caught by surprise, Jun Hyun-moo hesitated before offering some realistic advice: “Once the first digit becomes a four, the impact is big. It’s best to take care of it while there’s still a three ahead.” The two even made a playful bet on who would get married first.

The conversation then turned to money. KwakTube asked: “When the members of Girls’ Generation meet, who pays the bill?” Jun Hyun-moo joked, “Hyoyeon yes. Make more money.” Hyoyeon laughed, saying: “I think Yoona and Taeyeon probably make more than me. We usually meet on birthdays or special occasions, and whoever suggested we meet pays. We all try to pay each other.”

When asked if the members have ever fought, Hyoyeon replied, “We’re thoughtful of each other, like a long-term couple. At first, we were too busy to fight. Then, after hours, we’d go back to the dorm and be together like it was a trip to MT.” She also shared a touching story about their bond: “When Yoona was busy shooting dramas and only slept two or three hours, we were still awake waiting. Seeing us seemed to give her strength again.” Her words highlighted the deep friendship that has kept Girls’ Generation together for 18 years, leaving a warm impression on viewers.
