Digital auction platform JOOPITER, founded by pop star Pharrell Williams, held an auction titled “Nothing But a G Thang: The Art & Archive of G-Dragon” from September 2 to 10.
G-Dragon auctioned off various fashion items, contemporary art, design objects, and memorabilia he had collected over the years. The highest bid went to a multicolored fur coat from fashion brand Saga Furs. G-Dragon wore the coat during his solo rap performance at the 2014 MAMA Awards in December 2014 and during BIGBANG’s 2015 “MADE” tour.
On September 9, a day before the auction closed, the bid for the fur coat was $12,000, but within 10 minutes the price had risen to $81,000. The coat was finally sold for $125,000 (about 167 million Korean won) on September 10.
Additionally, a director’s chair engraved with G-Dragon’s real name “Kwon Ji-yong,” used during his 2017 world tour “Act III: MOTTE,” sold for $51,250. A Chanel belt from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection, which G-Dragon personalized with the message “Kim Chaos Loves GD!”, sold for $31,250.
