According to TenAsia on September 12, G-Dragon has confirmed his appearance on tvN’s talk show “You Quiz on the Block” (hereinafter referred to as “You Quiz”) and is currently coordinating the programs. After confirming his first solo comeback in 7 years, G-Dragon is expected to talk about his long hiatus, his relationship with BIGBANG, and his solo career on “You Quiz.”
In particular, G-Dragon has a close bond with “You Quiz” MC Yoo Jae-suk. During BIGBANG’s activities, the only variety show G-Dragon appeared on, aside from MBC Every1’s “Weekly Idol,” was MBC’s “Infinite Challenge.” G-Dragon was the most frequent guest on “Infinite Challenge Music Festival” and even tried his hand at acting by appearing in “Infinite Company” sketches, showing his deep affection for the show. This bond with Yoo Jae-suk is thought to be one of the reasons why G-Dragon chose “You Quiz” for his first comeback appearance in seven years.
Although G-Dragon has given short interviews to the media, such as the one with JTBC’s “Newsroom”, this will be his first appearance on a long-form talk show like “You Quiz” since his last talk show appearance in February 2012 on SBS’s “Healing Camp, Aren’t You Happy?”, marking a gap of 12 years.
G-Dragon’s October comeback is set to break a seven-year hiatus since his last release, “Kwon Ji Yong,” in June 2017. Fans have been eagerly awaiting his new music, and G-Dragon plans to fully meet their expectations with this comeback. In addition to new music and performances, he is also considering appearances on variety shows, making a full-scale comeback in various fields. He is committed to fully quenching the thirst of fans who have been waiting for his comeback for a long time.
Additionally, G-Dragon recently received the rights to the trademarks “G-Dragon,” “GD,” and “Ji-D” from his former agency YG Entertainment (as exclusively reported by TenAsia on August 1), which will allow him to freely continue his solo career.
