G-Dragon always finds a way to speak his mind.
One thing that is known G-Dragonis that the idol often expresses his opinion freely.
This includes in 2014 during his performance at the MAMA Awardswhen G-Dragon made a rap defaming the show partially related to his win the previous year. The idol was awarded “Best Dance Performance” for “Crooked”, despite not dancing in its entirety to the song.
The rap included a line implying that MAMA awarded prizes without the winners necessarily earning them.
At the 2024 ceremony, G-Dragon performed both as an individual and with the other members BIG BANG. Unexpectedly, it was also announced that the idol had won the “Visionary Music of the Year” award.
The idol’s speech attracted attention after the show, once netizens realized some of the references he made.

It’s been a while, Mom. You are giving out big prizes, you are handing them out generously so that your children don’t fight.
So today I received this significant award, personally for me and for our group. First we performed MOM way back in 2007, and personally for me it also represents my return to the stage after 7 years.
17 years have passed, so this significant day will become a beautiful memory for me, thanks to Mnet who gave me this award. There are too many people I have to thank but I’ll keep it short. The first part of his speech is the same phrase he used all those years ago, apparently mocking the awards ceremony for still handing out prizes freely. The line “I’ll try not to miss it next year” is also a bit of a meme/trolling moment, as he copied actress Kim Hee Ae’s portrayal in his commercial for SK-II
After the show, G-Dragon apparently agreed with a post calling his award “made up,” liking it on Instagram.

While G-Dragon may not necessarily agree with the show, the award given is absolutely true as he is a living legend!
