The 2024 Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards were held at the Busan Cinema Center on October 6.
The Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards 2024, now in their sixth year, began in 2019, initially focusing on Asian content but expanding globally in 2023. The event celebrates excellence in TV, OTT and online video content across the world.
This year, 201 works from 16 countries were presented and 41 works from 10 countries were nominated in 11 categories, chosen by an international jury. A notable new category was the “People’s Choice Award,” where fans voted for the most loved actor in the OTT field. Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, the stars of “Lovely Runner,” won this award but could not attend the ceremony. They expressed their gratitude through video messages.
Byun Woo-seok apologized for his absence due to previous commitments and thanked fans for their support, saying, “I I would like to thank the entire “Lovely Runner” team for helping me shine as Seon-jae. Furthermore, I will never forget the significance and weight of this award, which was awarded to me thanks to the efforts and votes of the fans. I will always keep in mind the warm support and love you always give me, and I will strive to repay you with better acting. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, Kim Hye-yoon said: “I greet you through a video like this due to scheduling conflicts. I sincerely thank all the fans who helped me win the People’s Choice Award. I will work to become an actress who will show you more different sides of myself and acting in the future. Thank you.”
On the other hand, Chae Jong-hyeop, who won the Best New Actor award, shared, “I’m happy just to be here at such a significant event, but I’m honored to receive an award. I feel like I have mixed emotions. I think it was thanks to the hard work of the ‘Eye Love You’ team that I could receive this award, but it was also thanks to everyone who loved the drama. I want to express my sincere gratitude. I will continue to work hard and show you the best side of myself.”
Kim Yo-han, who shared the same award, expressed: “To my grandmother in heaven who named me. I will work hard as an actor with this name. Thank you. And to my parents who are here. At first, when I told them that I was going to start acting, they were not very happy, but now they support me. I want to thank them. I also want to thank the director who believed in me and gave me the role, and Woo-sik hyung, Seok-gu hyung and Hee-jun sunbaenim who took care of me when I was a troublemaker on set. I will always be an actor Kim Yo-han who happily acts.
Meanwhile, Ahn Jae-hong, who secured Best Supporting Actor, said: “I think it will remain a great thrill to be able to host the opening ceremony of a film festival that I have admired since I was young, and receive such an honorable award.”
Yeom Hye-ran, the winner of the Best Supporting Actress award, shared: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the many people I met through ‘Mask Girl,’ the proud staff, the great actors who worked with me and the director. Finally, I will remember actress Park Ji-ah, who told me that I was a blessed actress while she was alive, and I pray that she rests in peace in heaven. Stay healthy, everyone,”
