FTISLAND will promote themselves as a 2-member group after the Minhwan controversy
On October 29, FTISLAND shared an official statement on Weverse confirming that the band will proceed with their activities as a duo, following recent personal controversies involving drummer Minhwan.
“After in-depth discussions on the future activities of FTISLAND, we have decided to temporarily continue as a two-member team (Lee Hong Ki and Lee Jae Jin)“, we read in the press release. “Starting from the activities scheduled for November 2nd, the drum position will be replaced by a session player. Since Lee Hong Ki and Lee Jae Jin have prepared diligently, they will perform without any problems.”
“We sincerely apologize to the event organizers, fans and audiences for any confusion caused” he added. “We will provide further updates on any changes as soon as they are confirmed.”
What happened to Minhwan?
Previously, on October 24, Minhwan’s ex-wife Yulhee shared a detailed video on her YouTube channel discussing their divorce, in which she alleged infidelity during their marriage. In the video, she included audio recordings that allegedly captured Minhwan making reservations at adult entertainment venues while they were still married. These revelations quickly gained attention, prompting responses from fans and the public alike.
The day after Yulhee’s video was released, FNC Entertainment released a statement confirming that Minhwan will suspend all media and public activities. The agency emphasized Minhwan’s intention to take responsibility for his actions privately and said the remaining FTISLAND members will continue to promote as a two-member group.
In Weverse’s recent announcement, FTISLAND assured fans of their commitment to the music and requested support for the members as they adjust to this new lineup. The statement reflects the band’s determination to move forward despite challenges, with members Lee Hongki and Lee Jaejin carrying out performances and promotional activities. Fans responded with mixed reactions, expressing both support for the group and disappointment with the circumstances.
