NewJeans remained steadfast in supporting the CEO as netizens questioned the relationship between the group and the CEO. This led to criticism of the group and Min Hee Jin.

Min Hee Jin directly addressed the gaslighting accusations, mentioning that news outlets had accused her of this. She said she wanted NewJeans to be smart instead, which is why she has always been honest with them, mentioning how the industry works.

I tell them the truth as closely as possible because I don’t want them to be shocked later. They need to learn about the world, but in a way that softens the blow. This industry is not nice. Ignorance is not a blessing in this case. You need to know a little to build resilience.

He said his actions are done to protect the innocence of the NewJeans and keep them as the group he envisioned.
