A singer has sparked controversy after revealing she had been seriously assaulted, then apologising, leaving fans outraged. The idol in question is Rolling Quartz’s Hyunjung, who recently shared alarming photos on his personal social media. The images showed visible injuries on his neck and face. She explained that she was the victim of a random attack and warned followers to be careful of people with “mental health problems” around them.

Hyunjung wrote, “Please be careful of anyone around you who may have mental health issues. I have become the victim of a random attack.” Many fans expressed concern, believing the incident involved an unknown person.
However, the situation took a surprising turn when Rolling Star Entertainment released an official statement via the group’s social media. The agency addressed the situation and apologized for causing concern. The statement also noted that Hyunjung was reflecting on worrying the public. Shortly after, the idol herself posted an apology, saying she felt “deeply ashamed of her actions.”

This led to a wave of backlash online, with many wondering why the victim was the one apologizing. Comments included: “I don’t even know her, but this makes me angry. It’s ridiculous that the victim has to apologize.” AND “An artist was injured by a stranger and it is handled ‘amicably’? Society should clarify, not apologize. They have every right to report the incident to the police. Why is the victim no longer treated as such?” Many also wished her a speedy recovery.

Subsequent updates from Rolling Star Entertainment suggested a more complex situation, describing the incident as a “mutual dispute”. The company added that legal limitations prevented them from disclosing further details.

Rolling Quartz is a five-member rock band that debuted in December 2020 under Rolling Star Entertainment. At first, the group mainly performed in clubs, mostly in the Hongdae area of Seoul, before becoming more active online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
All members of Rolling Quartz are involved in the music production process, including writing, composing and arranging. In February 2022, the band released their first EP Fighting, which reached the Top 5 on the US iTunes Rock Albums chart, making them the first Korean indie band to reach this milestone.
