DJ Yesong, who remained unresponsive after killing a person while driving under the influence, has been sentenced to prison.
On December 15, Newsis media reported that the Third Division of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Lee Heung-gu, upheld the ruling against DJ Yesong on December 10, rejecting his appeal. She was charged under the Aggravated Punishment Act with specified offenses (dangerous driving resulting in death) and other violations.
The incident occurred on February 3, around 4 am (KST), in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. DJ Yesong, driving a Mercedes-Benz heavily intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.221%, crashed into a delivery motorcycle, resulting in the death of a man in his 50s.
It was revealed that just 10 minutes before the fatal crash, DJ Yesong had crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle but fled the scene. He also did not respond to the incident, drawing heavy criticism.
In addition to this, reports indicate that the female DJ did not provide any emergency assistance, restrained her dog at the scene while the victim died, resisted police arrest and had to be forcibly taken into custody.
DJ Yesong was initially sentenced to 10 years in prison in the first trial. However, his sentence was reduced to 8 years in the court of appeal. The Supreme Court’s decision to reject his appeal means that the 8-year prison sentence is now final.
Meanwhile, DJ Yesong’s real name is Ahn Ye-song. She was a member of the group INSTAR under Inter BD Entertainment, but later became a DJ.
