Fans paid for Liu Shishi to win… but the prize was suddenly given to someone else

The 2025 iQIYI “Screaming Night” was held on the evening of December 6 in Macao, attracting a star-studded audience and fierce competition for awards. However, controversy erupted during the announcement of the “Most Loved Female Character of the Year” award. Although it was originally announced that Liu Shishi would win, the prize was suddenly awarded to Bai Lu, sparking accusations of a “black box operation.” In response, the organizers officially apologized.

According to netizens, the award should have gone to Li Qin of A Smile Follows the Song, Yang Mi of All Living Things and Liu Shishi of Huai Shui Bamboo Pavilion, based on the previously released voting results. But when the winners were announced during the event, the list was reshuffled: Yang Mi dropped to third place, Liu Shishi was completely removed from the winners, and Bai Lu, who wasn’t even on the original list, was added in his place.

Since voting required users to spend money, many fans who paid to vote were furious.

Subsequently, iQIYI issued an official apology, acknowledging that the winner announcement during the event was incorrect. They stressed that the correct winners should be based on the Nov. 21 announcement.

Despite the apology, netizens were not satisfied. Many criticized the mistake online, calling it “ridiculous” and “unbelievable,” demanding that both Bai Lu and Liu Shishi receive apologies for the mix-up.
