AOASeolhyun recently went viral again, this time not for a new project, but for the realization that she was only 20 years old during her group’s explosive rise to fame.
Thanks to the current “hip curve meme” trend circulating online, many younger fans have rediscovered the classic AOA shows like “Miniskirt,” “Short hair,” “Like a cat,” AND “Heart attack.” To their surprise, Seolhyun was in her early twenties when she led the group’s golden era.
According to fan posts on Korean online communities, Seolhyun was in her 20s during “Miniskirt” promotions and 9pm when AOA released “Like a cat” AND “Heart attack.”
This means that she was the same age as today’s idols born in 2005-2006, a realization that left many netizens speechless.
“When I saw her then, I thought she was a very mature woman. But now I realize she was just a 20-year-old girl, which is crazy.”


At that young age, Seolhyun became one of Korea’s most sought-after commercial models. Her famous telecom billboard and viral Kloud Beer commercial, often cited as one of K-pop’s most iconic CFs, were both filmed when she was in her early twenties.
Fans commented that her image melted at that moment “innocence and elegance”, a combination that has made her the nation’s ideal type for years.
