On August 27, Kyunghyang Shinmun reported that the singer A and Professor B, a doctor in a large university hospital, were both booked by the Soul Seodaemun police for suspected violations of the Medical Service Act.
Siner A has been believed to have been prescribed psychotropic drugs-used to treat conditions such as insomnia, depression and anxiety-scare to attend medical consultations in person, which are legally requested. According to reports, the drugs were collected on their behalf by a manager, raising legal red flags on prescription practices by prosecutor.

The investigation has now entered a phase on a large scale.
While the identity of “Singer a” has not been officially disclosed, the items in the sector and the media indicate more and more Psych (Park Jae-Sang) as an individual under control. These suspicions were further fed when Star News confirmed separately that Psych was also studied with similar accusations involving the collection of psychotropic drugs.
The PSY Agency P briefly responded to the growing controversy, affirming, “We are currently confirming the facts.” They have not denied the accusations or clarified if Psych is really “Singer A.”
In the meantime, the nameless singer’s agency has released a separate declaration, explaining: “The artist started consultations not made-to-see during Covid-19 and continued due to an intense program. Caution was missing.” They also stressed that there was no improper use of the identity or abuse of another person.
According to the Korean law, the requirements for controlled substances require consultations in person and can only be collected by the patient or, in rare exceptions, a family caregiver. These rules were temporarily relaxed during the Covid-19 pandemic but restored at the end of 2021.
The public remains alert while the investigation advances. Regardless of the fact that the items on Psych are confirmed, the case should rekindle the public debate on the privilege of celebrity, the ethics of the prescription drug and medical responsibility in Korea.
