Shin Ye-eun was influenced by her grandfather, a theater actor, and naturally began dreaming of becoming an actress from the third year of middle school. She stopped playing the violin and viola, which she had practiced with her sister, who majors in classical music, and enrolled in an acting academy.
Shin Ye-eun shared: “I wanted to act rather than just be an actress. I liked receiving applause on stage and I liked being seen by many people.“
After attending Anyang Arts High School, she entered the Acting Arts Department of Sungkyunkwan University, where she had an active college life as a class representative and school ambassador. She officially entered the entertainment industry after being selected as a cover model for a campus magazine.
After seeing the magazine, JYP Entertainment offered her an audition and she was chosen as a trainee. Although she received offers to join a girl group because she belonged to an idol agency, she revealed that she gave up because she wasn’t good at dancing. Her dancing skills, captured in various entertainment shows, showed her struggle, which made her decision to leave the girl group understandable.
Shin Ye-eun debuted in 2018 as the protagonist in the web drama Playlist “A-Teen” and gained popularity through Netflix’s “The Glory”. In particular, he demonstrated his acting skills by perfectly portraying the young Park Yeon-jin in “The Glory”. However, Shin Ye-eun confessed that she suffered severe trauma, even having nightmares, while filming the hair-curling torture scene in “The Glory.”
With her role in tvN’s drama “Jeongnyeon,” Shin Ye-eun solidified her position as a leading actress, and her talent was also showcased in variety shows.
Shin Ye-eun has stood out as a bright and quirky character in entertainment shows. Her sense of humor displayed in shows such as “Budget Travel” and “Running Man” earned her recognition from Yoo Jae-suk and Park Myung-soo.
