On August 16, Incheon International Airport police announced that they had charged A, the 40-year-old representative of the private security company, without detention, along with three others on charges of violating the Security Services Industry Law.
The other three people included two company security guards and a freelance bodyguard.
Team A and A are accused of violating the Security Services Industry Act by checking gates, shining flashlights on passengers near the lounge, and inspecting boarding passes while providing security for Byun Woo-seok at Incheon Airport when a crowd of fans gathered on July 12.
Byun Woo-seok was also reported to the National Human Rights Commission of Korea due to this incident. His agency Varo Entertainment released an official statement, saying: “We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to passengers during security procedures at Incheon Airport. In the future we will pay more attention to ensure that situations like this do not happen again.”
Police are considering whether to add charges of coercion or obstruction of business against the four people involved after further investigation.
