When girl group GFriend parted ways with their label Source Music in 2021, all six members knew it wasn’t the end.

The sextet, featuring members Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, Sowon, SinB and Umji, revealed in an interview with Star today they knew that fate would bring them back together, one way or another.

The members were united in their agreement that they had always wanted to return as a full group, a dream that came true in time for their 10th anniversary.

GFriend announced their reunion in September, with their special album The season of memories released on January 13th.

“We are happy to have become a group that has received so much love for so long,” the group said in a written statement released via Source Music.

“We are grateful to be able to commemorate the significant milestone of our 10th debut anniversary with a special album and various projects.”

During their separation as a group, GFriend revealed that there was never a moment where they stopped thinking about coming back as one.

“Every time we met we naturally talked about our 10th anniversary and we had faith that one day we would get together again. We especially wanted to do it on the occasion of our 10th anniversary,” the members said in an interview with Stella today.

“It was possible because all six members had a strong determination and trusted each other. We are proud of the members who made the concert project and the 10th anniversary of the debut a reality when before it was just a vague idea .”

Following the release of their special album, GFriend will embark on an Asian tour covering Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong, with stops in Osaka, Yokohama, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung and Taipei in March, following three days of concerts in Seoul from Friday to Friday. Sunday.

The members reflected on their time apart and what it was like to work together once again after a four-year hiatus.

“The voices of all the members seem to have deepened and grown. Now, everyone has found their own color. However, while rehearsing the new song, it was impressive to see them trying to blend well as a team rather than showing their individuality. Maybe it’s because that six-voice harmony still sounds just as beautiful even after all this time,” Yerin said.

Although the reconciliation journey encountered some obstacles, they were able to move forward.

“At the end of the year and on January 1, we practiced together in Japan to attend an awards ceremony. When I made mistakes during training, I coolly acknowledged each other’s mistakes and focused on putting them back together.” , Yerin said.

“It’s been a while since the six of us learned new choreography, so it was fun. The members complimented me for memorizing the dance quickly,” Eunha added.

“We have felt and learned new emotions through various experiences. So, it seems that the range we can use to express (our feelings) has expanded… What hasn’t changed is that we always focus on the fundamentals,” commented Yuju . In.

SinB, however, said the time away from its members has given her a new perspective on idolatry.

“My attitude towards work seems to have matured. I have become more assertive than before. What I haven’t changed until now is that I always watch and study our how-to videos to make sure I don’t fall below the standards we set for ourselves,” he said.

The sextet stressed that, in the end, what really matters is bringing joy to the fans who have waited for them all these years.

“I want us to be remembered as young people who shine without fading. And I want us to remain as a group that is like a friend who brings comfort every time you turn your head, as if we are always there beside you,” Yuju said.
