Actress Eugene, best known as a member of SES and for her recent role in the MBN drama First Ladyhas gone viral after revealing a shocking behind-the-scenes story about her acting career, a story fans are now calling the “rotten smell incident.”
On October 15, Eugene and his husband, actor Ki Tae-young, shared a heartfelt video of “Balance Game” on their YouTube channel Eugene vs. Taeyoungwhere they discussed unusual experiences on set.
When asked to choose between “a co-star with breath that smells like sewer” or “a co-star who keeps forgetting his lines”, Ki Tae-young responded carefully, saying he would prefer the latter.
“I understand when actors forget their lines: it happens due to nervousness”, he explained. “I also try to make them feel comfortable, sometimes pretending to mess up my own lines. But if it happens too often, it can be tiring.”
He added that he doesn’t judge anyone for having bad breath: “Sometimes it’s due to health or stomach problems. That’s something I can understand.”
However, Eugene did not agree. “Honestly, I’d rather work with someone who forgets their lines than someone whose mouth smells like sewer,” he said firmly.
When the production staff teased her, suggesting it would be easier to do so “hold your breath” for a brief scene, Eugene quickly turns it off: “How can I act naturally while holding my breath? My face would look stiff on camera!”
Eugene went on to reveal that he had once experienced this exact situation while filming a drama.
“I’ve never had this problem with male actors,” he said. “But one time, a co-star’s breath smelled like rotten cigarettes. It was unbearable — I honestly couldn’t stand it.”
Her husband, Ki Tae-young, could only nod and laugh, commenting: “Everything in acting is about breathing together, literally.”

The clip quickly gained traction, surpassing 62,000 views in just four days, as fans were both amused and surprised by Eugene’s honesty.
The couple’s funny exchange sparked a wave of positive reactions from netizens:
