ENHYPEN’s Sunghoon chased by Sasaeng at the airport, fans demand better protection

On January 11, a video shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) showed Sunghoon closely followed by several fans at Incheon International Airport after returning from his solo show in Shanghai, China. The clip captured a chaotic scene in which three or four female fans rushed towards Sunghoon as he exited the terminal, even engaging in a physical fight to get into the elevator with him.

Notably, the video revealed the absence of visible bodyguards, with only female staff accompanying the idol. As the crowd crowded to film Sunghoon from an uncomfortably close distance, no staff member appeared to intervene or handle the situation.

The footage quickly went viral, triggering a wave of criticism aimed at ENHYPEN’s agency, BELIFT LAB. Fans started using trending hashtags like #BELIFTLAB PROTECT SUNGHOON, #I will always protect Sunghoon (“We will always protect Sunghoon”)AND #BELIFTRespectSUNGHOON demand accountability and better safety measures.

While fans have condemned the insufficient security, some netizens have highlighted the ongoing dilemma of idol protection, where excessive or minimal security can both become points of contention.

This incident adds to growing concerns about celebrity safety, particularly regarding the behavior of sasaengs and the responsibility of entertainment companies to ensure the well-being of their performers during travel and public appearances.
