ENHYPEN criticized because 50 people Fansign include 0 Koreans

On November 16 (KST), a topic titled “No Korean wins a slot in this face-to-face fansign” was posted on the Korean forum Instiz, garnering considerable attention.

According to this topic, ENHYPEN’s Yes24 fansign recently revealed its list of 50 winners, but it turned out that all of these 50 people are foreigners, and no Koreans have secured a spot.

While face-to-face K-pop fansigns generally decide winners via lotteries, most retailers often include a mix of Korean and international winners, often to appease Korean fans, who play a large role in the success of K-pop groups pop.

However, this appears to have been abolished in the case of ENHYPEN’s fansign, prompting a strong reaction from the group’s Korean fans, who accuse ENHYPEN’s agency of pandering to foreign fans, especially Chinese ones.

Some have shown concern, not only about the company’s bad decision, but also about the fact that foreign winners may not be able to fully communicate with ENHYPEN members during the event.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • Although there are many foreign fans, it also selects a certain percentage of Korean fans…
  • No matter how many foreign fans a group has, it is a Korean fansign event, so there should be a quota for Korean fans
  • Aren’t they Korean singers? They’re basically saying that Korean fans don’t matter in this movie
  • Even though there are many Chinese fans, it doesn’t make sense that no Korean has won for a fansign in Korea
  • It can’t help, the group is popular overseas but not in Korea
  • At this rate, Korean fans will really abandon the group next time
  • If the company hates Korea so much, why is it promoting in Korea? If they hate Koreans so much, why did you debut them in Korea?
  • No Koreans in a face-to-face fansign… What if no one responds when the group speaks in Korean…
