On January 16, Gaeko, a member of the hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo, shared the news through a statement posted on his personal Instagram account. He explained that the decision was made after a long period of thoughtful discussion.
“Last year, after many long conversations, we decided to end our relationship as a married couple while respecting each other’s lives,” Gaeko wrote.
He went on to point out that despite the end of their marriage, their role as parents remains unchanged. “The two of us will continue to fulfill our responsibilities as parents through co-parenting. We would appreciate it if you could look at us with warmth and understanding.” he added.
Gaeko and Kim Soo Mi married in 2011 and have two children, a boy and a girl. Kim Soo Mi is a broadcaster and entrepreneur who previously appeared on the beauty variety show Get beauty in 2018. She is currently active on social media platforms, including Instagram and YouTube.
The announcement was met with support from fans, many of whom praised Gaeko for dealing with the situation calmly and respectfully, putting his children first.
As one of the most influential figures in the Korean hip-hop scene, Gaeko’s personal news has attracted a lot of attention, although both parties have requested privacy as they proceed separately.
