The Ministry’s response, recently shared on an online community, appears to contradict Min’s statements.
On November 20, a post titled “Min Hee-jin and BTS V Text Complaint Response” was uploaded to an online community.
This followed Min’s appearance on “Kim Young-dae’s School of Music” on October 29, where he mentioned receiving messages from V during his conflict with HYBE.
During the broadcast, Min said: “V occasionally calls me from the army. It’s to the point where I ask, “Are you really in the military?” He is always so cheerful and lively. When I was going through a hard time, he called me and asked, “Are you okay, sister?” He also texted me early in the morning on my birthday and I was deeply touched by how kind and thoughtful he is.”
His claims, intended to show their close relationship, instead backfired. Critics have pointed out inconsistencies in his story. According to Min, his birthday is December 16th, while V enlisted on December 11th. This timeline implies that he sent the message just five days into his basic training as a recruit, raising questions about whether he had received special privileges to use a telephone at that time. time.
A netizen filed a complaint with the Ministry of Defense, claiming: “This is a serious violation of military rules. I suspect the superiors turned a blind eye to his phone use because he is a famous K-pop idol.”
The complainant further argued: “Min said the message was sent while V was still in basic training, less than a week after he enlisted. Recruits are not allowed to be absent or access their phones except for one hour on weekends. Even in this context it is not possible to schedule a message in advance.”
Subsequently, the Ministry of Defense denied any special treatment.
According to the response to the complaint shared on November 20, the Military Police Division 802 stated: “At the Army Training Center where Kim Tae-hyung (V’s real name) was stationed, recruits are allowed to use their phones for an hour on weekends and holidays. Kim Tae-hyung used the phone according to Army Training Center guidelines, during the designated afternoon usage period, not early in the morning.“
The Ministry further clarified: “There was no instance where Kim Tae-hyung was given special permission or his phone usage was neglected. However, specific details of the conversations, including the exact time and content, cannot be disclosed due to the Law on the Protection of Personal Information and the Law on the Protection of Communications Secrets.”
According to the Ministry of Defense’s response, there are reactions suggesting that former CEO Min Hee-jin’s claim of receiving a message from V early in the morning may be false.
