Taiwanese singer and DJ Koo Jun-yup will celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year with the family of his late wife, actress Barbie Hsu, according to his mother, Huang Chunmei.
In a recent interview with Next Apple, Huang Chunmei shared her feelings about facing her first New Year’s Eve without Barbie Hsu. “I cry every time I think about it and I can’t imagine how I’ll get through that day” he said. Despite the sadness, he expressed gratitude for the support he received and said he is gradually recovering.
She revealed that DJ Koo will join the family at Barbie Hsu’s younger sister Dee Hsu’s mansion this year, marking a significant family reunion. “It’s comforting that the family can be together for the new year,” Huang Chunmei said through tears.
After Barbie Hsu’s death, Huang Chunmei admitted that she was so weak that she could barely move. Her daughter took her to a traditional Chinese medicine doctor and she has now regained much of her strength. Although he still struggles to sleep through the night, his pain has significantly decreased.
DJ Koo has not commented publicly on these updates. Sources report that he continues his daily visits to his late wife’s grave. South Korean media also notes that a Korean TV station is planning a special program focusing on the enduring love between DJ Koo and Barbie Hsu, beyond life and death.
DJ Koo is a music producer, singer and former member of the dance group Clon. He is also a DJ with his own fashion brand. The couple married in 2022.
Barbie Hsu, born 1976, is a famous Taiwanese actress and singer, known for dramas such as Meteor Garden, The god of warAND Summer bubble. Since her 2021 divorce from businessman Wang Xiaofei, she has largely stayed out of the public eye to focus on her family. Vivian died on February 2, 2025 in Japan from influenza-related pneumonia while on vacation.
