🔻 How does Min Hee Jin view artists?
“Endure disgust and work hard: Honestly, it feels like I’m working for someone else’s good. It’s such a waste of time having to support a bunch of naive kids.” (30 December 2023)
This conversation reflects Min Hee Jin’s duplicity. He basically doesn’t seem to respect artists.
According to her, the members of NewJeans are just “naive kids,” and her role is to endure that “disgust.”
“Haha, what do they know? Watching them stare at themselves in the mirror and obsess over dance drives me crazy.” (December 30, 2023)
“Artists? How many times do I have to say this: stop using that word. It’s so annoying. Enough.” (8 January 2024)
🔻 Artists as tools for Min Hee Jin
Min Hee Jin reportedly used NewJeans as a mouthpiece against HYBE, treating them as a tool to convey his will.
For example, during NewJeans’ sudden livestream on September 11:
“It appears that the current methods of managing HYBE are not the right approach. Let’s bring back the CEO…“(Hyein)
“What we want is for Min Hee Jin to return and lead the company again, combining management and production like ADOR in the past…(Minji)
The live stream ended with a request for Min Hee Jin’s return, a request suspiciously aligned with her own requests to HYBE earlier that morning.
🔻 Min Hee Jin’s comeback strategy was two-track
Min Hee Jin allegedly pursued his reinstatement as CEO via email while NewJeans placed public pressure on HYBE via live streaming.
Messages obtained from sending between Min Hee Jin and NewJeans families sent on the day of the live stream:
“We clearly ask for the reinstatement of the CEO to stabilize the company.” (Min Hee Jin, September 11, 2024)
At the time, Min Hee Jin was facing public backlash for her mishandling of workplace harassment victims and allegations of unethical practices in the entertainment industry. She managed to change the narrative on the day of the live stream, using these “naive kids” to carve a path back.
🔻 NewJeans says live streaming was a ‘personal decision’
“We were worried about the rumors that Min Hee Jin had instructed us to do it.” (NewJeans)
Min Hee Jin’s side also denied involvement, telling KBS (in a now-deleted interview) that she “discouraged” the broadcast.
However, Telegram messages obtained by Dispatch tell a different story.
Min Hee Jin reportedly knew the exact start time of the live stream and excitedly remarked, “(The rabbits) are rolling out the carpet for us.”
🔻 The “invisible hand” behind Hanni’s hearing
On October 9, Hanni sent a message to fans, stating:
“I have decided!! I will go to the National Assembly hearing! I’ll go alone!“
Hanni emphasized that this was his personal decision:
“Don’t worry!! I’m doing it for myself and for the members. I haven’t told either the managers or the company yet.”
However, Min Hee Jin reportedly knew this. On October 8, a day before Hanni’s announcement, he visited Min Hee Jin’s office with a yellow envelope (believed to be a certificate of attendance at the hearing).
Min Hee Jin welcomed her warmly, along with a lawyer from Sejong Law Firm, and they talked for more than four hours.
🔻 Minji at the press conference on November 29th
“We haven’t had private conversations with CEO Min Hee Jin, but I think he shares our thoughts…(Minji)
NewJeans tried to distance itself from Min Hee Jin during the press conference. They described their livestream as “self-contained,” the National Assembly hearing as “a personal decision.”
However, Dispatch suggests a clear and deliberate strategy behind the events:
Livestream → National Assembly hearing → press conference, all orchestrated to assist Min Hee Jin’s “escape”.
Even before HYBE’s official response to the reinstatement request, the press conference was already scheduled, with responses prepared in advance.
And Min Hee Jin was reportedly preoccupied with other activities, leaving her true motives under scrutiny.
