A production press conference for the upcoming SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama, Dynamite kiss took place on November 5th at SBS Hall in Mokdong, Seoul. The event featured lead actors Jang Ki-yong, Ahn Eun-jin, Kim Mu-jun and Woo Da-vi, along with director Kim Jae-hyun, who spoke about his aspirations for the new series.
The romantic comedy follows Go Da-rim (Ahn Eun-jin), a single woman who disguises herself as a married mother to get a job, and Gong Ji-hyeok (Jang Ki-yong), the team leader who gradually falls in love with her. The drama depicts the humorous and heartfelt struggles of two people who hide their emotions while navigating workplace chaos and unexpected affection.
Director Kim Jae-hyun’s previous work, High dollar lawyerachieved phenomenal success, reaching a peak viewership rating of 15.2%. However, the show ended prematurely with 12 episodes instead of 14, sparking rumors of internal disagreements and creative conflicts. SBS denied the speculation at the time, explaining that the decision had been made “to speed up the progression of the story.” Despite the explanation, audiences criticized the abrupt and uneven ending, labeling it a “Showy but disappointing ending.”
Asking whether the legacy of the hit drama created pressure, Kim responded candidly:
“I feel more anticipation than weight. Since ‘One Dollar Lawyer’ has been loved so much, I am confident that ‘Dynamite Kiss’ will also receive great love.”
He also expressed his ambition for the project:
“My goal is to surpass ‘One Dollar Lawyer.’ I want this series to provide even more laughs and thrills.
With its lively premise and promising cast chemistry, Dynamite kiss aims to bring a new wave of romantic comedy to SBS’s midweek schedule. The drama is scheduled to premiere on November 12 at 9 PM KST on SBS.
