Late at night on December 18, BTS’ Jungkook surprised fans with a live broadcast. Here, the male idol mentioned various anecdotes, such as his experience in the army with colleague Jimin, as well as his love for G-Dragon.
Additionally, she sang and danced to various songs, including BLACKPINK’s Rosé’s hit “APT.”.
However, Jungkook’s remark when he mentions “APT.” sparked mixed reactions.
Notably, when asked to sing “APT.”, Jungkook initially hesitated, saying: “APT.? I should? but I don’t think I should… Bruno Mars sunbaenim did a great job… he’s so tall… I don’t think I should.”
The fact that Jungkook only mentioned Bruno Mars and not Rosé has led to various malicious interpretations, with some accusing the male idol of discrediting Rosé. As a result, comments like: “He really said: we only know Bruno Mars”, “Bruno Mars did a great job carrying on that trend”, AND “He was just joking about Bruno,” and “He knows the real owner of the song,” can be seen all over the internet.
However, many defended Jungkook, making it clear that the male idol’s statement was severely misunderstood. In fact, Jungkook’s comment only showed that he found Bruno Mars’ vocal range too high for him, so he was too afraid to try singing the song.
“He meant that he couldn’t sing in Bruno’s range, which is true because if you look at the whole song he sang mostly pink parts and skipped Bruno’s” AND “he’s clearly saying he can’t sing in Bruno Mars’ range, but armies prefer to make it sound like he’s discrediting a Korean woman who came up with the whole concept of the song” were some of the comments from these people.
Some BLACKPINK fans even agreed that Jungkook not mentioning Rosé is better, leaving comments like: “He knows his sasaengs as fans and what would have happened if he mentioned Rosé.”
