On December 25, Go Hyun-jung shared an update via his personal SNS account, saying, “Merry Christmas everyone~ Thanks to your concern, I feel much better. Your kind words have been a true source of strength for me. Even though I am still hospitalized, I will recover quickly. Have a wonderful evening.“
News of Go Hyun-jung’s health problems first emerged on December 16. He was supposed to attend the press conference for Genie TV’s original drama “Namib” (written by Eom Sung-min, directed by Han Sang-jae and Kang Min-gu). to 2pm at D-Cube City, Sindorim-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul. However, just two hours before the event, he unexpectedly announced his absence.
The production team explained: “He is unable to participate due to a sudden deterioration in health. In the opinion of the medical team this morning, absolute rest and recovery are necessary, leaving no choice but to cancel his presence.“
According to her agency, Go Hyun-jung collapsed and was rushed to the emergency room that morning. She had not been well for some time and collapsed several times on set during filming. His agency stated: “This isn’t the first time. She seemed to have persevered out of a sense of responsibility as a lead actress, with only two days of filming left.”
The agency also clarified that his absence was solely due to health issues, addressing any speculation about conflicts with the production team.
Go Hyun-jung’s health problems had been evident for some time. In a web variety show released in January, he revealed: “I was pretty bad. I didn’t realize how serious it was because I thought it was all in my head and I didn’t go to hospital. I’m used to putting up with things. But as time went by, I realized it wasn’t a normal pain. When I finally decided to get a health check-up, the situation was serious. I was in critical condition and needed the collaboration of two hospitals for my health check-up.”
He continued: “After the health check, the problems were identified. I thought treating these issues would make things better, but I collapsed while walking. I remember saying, “I’m Go Hyun-jung.” Please save me as I fell. All I could see were people’s feet. After I regained consciousness, I went to the hospital a couple of days later to diagnose and treat the real problem. I stayed in hospital for a long time and came out changed.“
Although she took medication and visited the hospital regularly, her sudden collapse on the day of the press conference prevented her from attending. She remains hospitalized and continues to receive treatment. While his recent update after ten days brings relief, it also highlights the severity of his condition. Uhm Jung-hwa, Hong Yoon-hwa, Ryeoun, Park Seul-gi, and Jang Na-ra left supportive comments or likes to encourage her.
Meanwhile, it was reported that there are still two days of shooting left for “Namib”. Given his current hospitalization, changes to the filming schedule are expected.
