On March 29, V appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel “Fairy Jaehyung” hosted by Jung Jae-hyung, where he talked about the group’s early difficulties and growth.
During the conversation, the host mentioned BTS’ debut in 2013 and noted that their explosive popularity didn’t happen overnight. He referenced the period before their breakthrough with “Fire” (불타오르네), noting that it took several years for the group to gain significant recognition.
V then shared a touching memory of those early days. “I think about 25-30 people came to our first fan meeting,” he recalled. “It was actually more than the number of members we had, so we were really happy. We were so touched that people came just to see us.”
The comment struck a chord with fans, offering a glimpse into a time when the now world-famous group performed for only a handful of supporters.
After that period, BTS’s career trajectory changed dramatically. Following the release of “Fire”, the group began to top the charts, even reaching number one on Japan’s Oricon chart, signaling the beginning of their global rise.

Reflecting on their success, V stressed that the group itself had not changed dramatically. “We continued to do what we always did,” he said. “It was the fans who spread the word and made us known.”
The story serves as a reminder of BTS’ journey—from performing in front of a few dozen fans to becoming one of the biggest groups in the world—and highlights the deep connection they continue to share with their fandom, ARMY.
