On December 21, DAY6 (members Sungjin, Young KWonpil e Dowoon) performed their special concert, The present, at the Gocheok Sky Dome, marking a historic milestone as the first K-pop band to take the stage at this iconic and enormous venue.

The two-day event celebrated the band’s decade-long journey, featuring songs from their debut album through to their latest mini-album, Bandaid, released in September this year.

Of course, there was no shortage of hits like “You Were Beautiful” in the setlist.

The highlight of the evening came during the performance of the debut song “Congratulations,” highlighted by a live orchestra of 56 musicians. The grandiose arrangement, combined with a finale full of confetti, left the audience fascinated and excited.

During the show, Wonpil was visibly emotionally overwhelmed, pausing at some points as tears welled up in his eyes.

Videos of the star bursting into tears and leaving the stage to compose herself quickly went viral online.

After returning to the stage, the DAY6 star shared his thoughts and explained why he suddenly burst into tears.

I felt so grateful to be able to be on a stage like this. We’ve worked hard this year, pouring our energy into songwriting and a busy schedule. We’ve come this far, hand in hand with My Day (the official name of the fandom), and being able to perform on this stage with the people we love has thrilled me.

Member Young K also spoke about how much their debut song means to the group. The fact that it is so loved by so many people makes it even better.

It’s amazing that our debut song is still loved to this day. Singing it together with the people we love makes it even more moving.

Wonpil’s emotion also made fans emotional, not only locally but all over the world. As the concert drew to a close, they were all celebrating DAY6’s incredible journey as a band together.
