On March 5, China Times reported that the Taiwan court granted Darren Wang’s deposit after five hours of detention. The actor published 5 million TWD (about 160,000 USD) for his temporary liberation. The judge concluded that Darren Wang and his accomplice did not represent any risk of flight, they had no access to destroy the tests and could not hit their testimonies.
When Darren Wang left the police station, his face was covered and was accompanied by his lawyer. Surrounded by journalists, he apologized after one of them fell but then made a fake gesture, smiling widely and shaking the cameras.
His provocative attitude on Weibo has aroused public indignation, since many have criticized his apparent lack of remorse, especially considering that his actions have almost led to the death of two people.
The latest police report reveals that Darren Wang faces the accusations of attempted murder, illegal collection of personal data, incitement of attacks and dissemination of false information. The authorities are also investigating his involvement in an illegal Shaking operation that used violence to collect the debts. On February 18, China Times reported that actor Taiwan Darren Wang was arrested together with 10 others on charges of escaping military service. The actor remained calm and cooperative during arrest.
