Cook Ahn Yoo Sungknown for his appearance on Netflix cooking competition show Culinary class wars has touched the hearts of many by offering comfort to the families of the victims of the recent Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy.
On December 30, Chef Ahn visited Muan Airport to personally deliver food to those mourning their loved ones.
Early that morning, Chef Ahn and his team prepared 200 servings of gimbap, a Korean staple. He teamed up with Yoon Yong Moon, a local restaurant owner who contributed an additional 500 portions, to ensure that grieving families received warm, heartfelt meals.
In addition to gimbap, Chef Ahn purchased 500 units of convenience store items bearing his name, such as “Tamago sandwich” AND “Tamago Gimbap,” from a local 7-Eleven branch at Muan Airport. He also promised to continue providing these meals daily until the situation stabilizes.

Reflecting on the tragedy, Chef Ahn spoke about the effect it has had on the nation and how connected everyone feels to the victims. He also revealed that a producer he had worked closely with on a show was among those who lost their lives.
