Entertainment company CJ ENM has announced the return of its annual K-Pop music festival, with shows scheduled in Japan and Los Angeles this year.
KCON JAPAN 2025 will take place in Chiba Prefecture from May 9-11, with KCON LA reprising from August 1-3.
Venue information, artist schedule and ticket sales will be announced at a later date.
KCON, launched in the United States in 2012, has since expanded around the world, with festivals in South Korea, Spain, Italy, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and American cities such as Los Angeles and New York.
The festival’s aim is to unite fans and Korean culture with “masterfully produced K-pop performances with a convention where fans can experience every aspect of Korean culture, from music and fashion to television and food.”
KCON LA 2024, which took place at Crypto Arena, the LA Convention Center and Gilbert Lindsay Plaza, featured a bill full of performances from longtime stars and emerging artists such as Alexas, A.CE., Boynextdoor, Craxy, Drippin , Dxmon, Enhyphen, god, Hyolyn, INI, Jeon Somi, Jo Yuri, Kep1er, Katseye, Kim Soo Hyun, NCT 127, NMIXX, P1Harmony, Park Min Young, Pow, Stayc, Taemin, TWS, Tiger JK, Zerobaseone and Zico.
The festival has proven to be a successful venture for the company, with its overseas expansion attracting millions of fans around the world. Last year’s KCON JAPAN attracted a record-breaking crowd of 140,000 spectators and attracted more than 5.9 million fans worldwide for KCON LA 2024 across the festival’s website and across its digital platforms.
The festival also made history with the first national primetime broadcast of a K-pop show on the CW Network’s live broadcast.
