On January 26, late Astro Moonbin member Cha Eun-Woo’s birthday, he posted several photos on his Instagram account along with the caption, “Happy birthday. I miss you.”
Among the photos is one showing a cake made of chocolate cakes and snapshots of past birthday celebrations with Moonbin, reminiscing on their memories together.
Along with the Instagram update, Cha Eunwoo posted a video on his YouTube channel, where he played the piano and sang, expressing his wish for Moonbin.
He also added a long message with the song, saying: “Happy birthday, Binnie. How were you? I’ve missed you a lot lately. There’s so much I want to talk about over drinks, but you’re not here to lean on. I’m sorry I can’t visit you as much as last year. Every time I think of you, I keep it and keep working hard, that’s what you wanted, right? But now, it’s starting to feel a little overwhelming. I don’t know… am I okay? Your absence seems particularly burdensome, my friend. I miss you. I love you. Happy Moonbin Day.”
The song that Cha Eunwoo performed was Shin Seung-Hun’s ballad “After Long Time”, which contains touching lyrics such as “You were so precious to me, and since you are no longer by my side, I cried along with the rain.”
After finishing the song, Cha Eunwoo, with tears welling in his eyes, forced a small smile and said, “Happy Moonbin Day.”
Fans and viewers were deeply moved, leaving supportive comments such as:
- I hope Eunwoo finds happiness. I wish he hadn’t pushed himself so hard and would have taken time to care and love more.
- Binnie smiled and felt happy listening to him. Stay healthy and let’s continue seeing each other for a long time.
- I pray for happy days ahead for Eunwoo. Thank you for holding out so long.
- Leaving a song for Moonbin is such a heartfelt and beautiful gesture.
- I hope he doesn’t blame himself or feel guilty. Thanks for hanging in there.
- It must have taken so much pain and tears to express this pain. May Eunwoo’s year be filled with only happiness and good luck.
- May those who carry the pain of loss find peace. May the world be kinder to them. I hope a beautiful world opens up for you, which is overcoming this sadness.
Meanwhile, earlier in May last year, Cha Eun-woo appeared on TVN’s “You Quiz on the Block” and shared his deep feelings of sorrow for Moonbin. During the show, Cha Eun-Woo reflected on the past year, calling it the most challenging year of his life, and revealed how he wrote a song for Moonbin and his feelings of guilt.
On the other hand, Moonbin died on April 19, 2023 at the age of 25.
