Last August, singer Lee Hyori purchased a single-family home in Pyeongchang-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul for 6.05 billion won in cash. The house is about 100 pyeong with two floors above ground and a basement. Lee Hyori is said to own 3/4 of the property, while her husband Lee Sang-soon owns 1/4.
The interior is currently being renovated and the couple plans to move in this month. They plan to rent out their home on Jeju Island, where they have been living.
Lee Hyori moved to Jeju after marrying Lee Sang-soon in September 2013. In July, she appeared on a YouTube channel and revealed that after 11 years, they plan to move back to Seoul.
At that time, he said, “I’m finally moving to Seoul in the second half of this year. It feels like the right time. I think my activities will never be the same again. The world has changed so much that I’m even considering trying YouTube,” expressing his thoughts.
BTS’s J-Hope is also showing off his “young and rich” lifestyle. According to Biz Korea, J-Hope purchased a luxury penthouse at Apelbaum Hangang in Yongsan-gu, Seoul for 12 billion won in cash in June. He then purchased an additional unit on the lower floor in July.
J-Hope also paid for this unit entirely in cash without taking out a real estate mortgage. The current market value of Apelbaum Hangang’s high-rise units is estimated to be around 11-12 billion won. As a result, it is assumed that J-Hope spent over 20 billion won in cash to purchase two apartments.
The penthouse purchased by J-Hope has three bedrooms, four bathrooms and is a duplex with an exclusive area of 83 pyeong and a total supply area of 110 pyeong. The unit on the lower floor is a single-story structure with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and an exclusive area of 70 pyeong, with a total supply area of 91 pyeong.
In addition to Apelbaum Hangang, J-Hope also owns two apartments in the Trimage complex in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. This brings his total of luxury properties in Seoul to four.
TVXQ’s Changmin has also made a significant real estate move. In April, he purchased a Hyundai apartment in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul for 8.9 billion won in cash. Former national rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon-jae purchased a single-family home in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul for 7.2 billion won in cash with her husband last November.
Trot singer Jang Yoon-jeong also made headlines for purchasing a penthouse in Apelbaum Hangang, where J-Hope owns two units, for 12 billion won in cash. According to the property registry, Jang Yoon-jeong and her husband, host Do Kyung-wan, completed the property transfer in April in joint names.
