Amid the disagreement between ADOR and NewJeans, the Bunnies are wondering if the girl group will still be able to use their name once they eventually leave HYBE.
On November 28th, members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein called an emergency press conference and announced that they will officially leave ADOR on the 29th.
While the label insists that they are still artists under ADOR, the five idols are resolute in starting over under their former CEO Min Hee Jin, with the slogan: “NewJeans never die.”
On this day, the members also hinted at their firm decision by changing their profile photos in the fandom communication app, calling and saying goodbye to fans here.
Minji used a famous “Inuyasha” meme in South Korea when he resigned, which originally contains the phrase:
“Goodbye everyone. I’m leaving to seek my happiness and detach myself from all the weight of the world.”
With this decision, Bunnies and K-pop fans are curious what will happen to the NewJeans name, as they will have to let it go if they truly want to leave the label.
During the press conference, members said:
“At midnight on the 29th, we may no longer be able to use the NewJeans name for the time being, regardless of our wishes.”

Some fans advised them to use a new name, but the quintet intended to fight for it.
They said:
“However, the essence of the five of us as NewJeans will not change. We have no intention of giving up this name.”
Hyein said:
“For some, the name NewJeans may seem like a branding issue, but for us, it’s not a simple matter. From the day the five of us first met until now, we’ve done everything together under the NewJeans name. We will continue work hard to secure naming rights.”
