On December 16, BTS RM connected with fans through a live broadcast on Weverse, where he casually shared the news.
“Everyone, I’m Kim Namjoon, I got my driver’s license,” he announced, prompting cheers and applause from fans.
Fellow member J-Hope jokingly chimed in, saying, “I heard there was a rumor that you failed once.” RM laughed and explained the situation honestly.
“I crossed the center line while making a U-turn,” he said. “The road signs were faded. I passed the driving test on the second try.”
He added self-consciously, “I know how to drive, but I can’t park. I definitely need parking lessons.”
RM also clarified that getting a license does not mean owning a vehicle. “I have no intention of buying a car,” he said. “I just wanted to experience it for myself. I wanted to overcome my trauma.”
While he didn’t go into detail about the trauma, fans praised his openness and courage in taking on a challenge later in life.

Shortly after the live broadcast, RM shared a photo of his Standard Class 2 driving license on his personal Instagram, quickly attracting attention and congratulations from fans around the world.
Meanwhile, BTS is preparing for the highly anticipated comeback of the entire group, scheduled for March next year, marking an important moment for fans who follow the members’ individual activities.
