The films that will be screened this year were presented during the official press conference of the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) on September 3.
In conjunction with the presentation of the opening and closing films, official selections, major events, and the Asian Contents & Film Market, it was announced that a documentary featuring BTS leader RM would be screened, which has attracted a lot of attention.
The documentary, titled “RM: Right People, Wrong Place” (directed by Lee Seok-jun), which documents the making of RM’s solo album and captures eight months of his personal life before he enlisted, has been invited to the Open Cinema section and will be screened at an open-air cinema.
This documentary chronicles the making of RM’s second solo album “Right Place, Wrong Person,” which was released in May, and includes recordings from the eight months leading up to his military enlistment. This is the first time a K-POP documentary will be screened in a large outdoor setting at the Busan International Film Festival.
The stills released from the film show RM in a free atmosphere, capturing the attention of the audience.
The festival offers fans a special chance to see RM, who has been serving in the military since his enlistment last December, on the big screen at an outdoor cinema, further heightening the anticipation.
This is only the second time that a documentary will be screened in the Open Cinema section of the Busan International Film Festival.
The festival organizers said the documentary was designed to be enjoyable not only for fans, but also for the general public. Although RM will not be able to attend the festival due to his military service, the director and other cast members are expected to make an appearance to greet the audience.
TWICE’s Dahyun was also officially invited to the Busan International Film Festival with her acting debut film “You Are the Apple of My Eye” (directed by Jo Young-myung).
The film, which was invited to the “Korean Cinema Today – Panorama” section, depicts the blossoming emotions of a bright youthful love story between the school’s troubled boy and the star student assigned to supervise him. Dahyun’s casting in the film was previously exclusively reported by Xportsnews.
This film is a remake of the popular Taiwanese film “You Are the Apple of My Eye” and in it Dahyun shares the screen with singer and actor Jinyoung, portraying the lively and youthful spirit of their characters.
Since this is Dahyun’s first attempt at acting after her debut with TWICE in 2015, fans are looking forward to seeing a new side of her on screen.
