BTS Suga DUI case sentenced to a fine

SugaThe ruling has finally been revealed. THE Member of BTS was officially sentenced to a fine in connection with a DUI case involving an electric scooter.

Suga was officially sentenced to a fine

On September 30, the Seoul Court issued a summary order, imposing a fine of ₩15 million KRW (about $11,200) for drunken driving.

This sanction reflects the initial recommendation made by the prosecution during the September 11 hearing. A summary order is generally used in relatively minor cases, allowing for a fine or penalty without a formal trial. However, if Suga wishes to contest the decision, he has the right to request a formal trial within seven days.

The case stems from an incident that happened last month when Suga was caught driving an electric scooter with a blood alcohol content of 0.227%, which far exceeds the legal limit. His actions shocked the BTS fandom, known as ARMY, who have always admired his responsible image.

Suga quickly addressed the situation, even issuing a heartfelt apology to ARMYs on August 25 via a handwritten letter on Weverse. In his letter he expressed deep remorse for his actions, acknowledged the gravity of the situation and took full responsibility. His letter also followed his appearance at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on August 23, where he was questioned for violating the traffic law.

Fans also became concerned about Suga after the incident, especially after some brands reportedly excluded the BTS member from ongoing promotions. Fortunately, it seems that Min Yoongi will continue to fight and continue to be an important member of the global phenomenon.

This case also serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of driving while intoxicated, regardless of one’s status or fame. Meanwhile, Suga will finally finish his mandatory military service as a social worker on June 21, 2025.
