He was one of 16 named on the list.
BTSRM‘s recent honor has sparked heated debates online.
It was recently announced that RM was included in a list created by The Pixel project.
The Pixel Project is a non-profit organization”whose mission is to raise awareness, funding and the power of volunteering for the cause of ending violence against women through campaigns, initiatives, projects and programs at the intersection of social media, new technologies and popular culture/arts.“
RM was included in The Pixel Project’s list of “16 Male Role Models Helping Stop Violence Against Women”, with the organization citing steps he has taken to address concerns over misogynistic lyrics.
The list was shared on the organization’s website on December 4, but was only recently discovered and reposted on X. While many were proud of the idol’s inclusion, others shared very different opinions.
Some netizens felt that RM’s inclusion on the list was inappropriate, citing the idol’s past interactions with an accused rapist. Many, however, pointed out the actions of fans, claiming that the idol did not serve as a role model and discouraged misogynistic behavior, in addition to the contributions of others on the list.

meanwhile he has never, not even with a single word, attempted to tell his fans that he can’t stand sexually harassing female idols under the pretext of defending him because ✨image✨ https://t.co/er4tzGsUAO

You literally stand for NOTHING, at the very least you can’t even tell your Andrew Tate Descendants fans to stop harassing female idols. Instead you and your bandmates continue to pamper them saying “we love them NO MATTER WHAT” https://t.co/gf8gj4VVKN pic.twitter.com/8Cb00p2vUC

I don’t think someone “unlearning misogyny” should warrant being labeled as a role model who positively impacts women https://t.co/CCbnceqq1l pic.twitter.com/pUIrpeuHtf

no, but honestly thinking outside of kpop for a minute, why do awards like this exist? why should men be rewarded for not being misogynistic and not hitting women? https://t.co/rtJza46I4g

The idol’s fans defended him from the negative comments, citing steps he has taken to learn from previous criticisms.
Namjoon was literally blacklisted from Korean men for supporting women. He will never be the villain you all want him to be. https://t.co/Ov1RZU4Nbz

“what impact” is why Hybe organizes gender sensitivity training for its trainees. Can’t say the same for other idols https://t.co/SBoo3dVgvk pic.twitter.com/ktxkPSWCsa

I sincerely wish people here understood how important it is for feminism in a country where men punch pregnant women in the face for an assigned seat on public transport to have men on their side, be open to educating themselves and unlearning certain things https: //t.co/fLzxJiojmV
