American rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s latest release, “Neva Play,” features BTS RM and has generated a slew of reactions. RM’s voice seems deeper than usual in the track, and since he’s currently serving in the military, his appearance in the music video is animated.
RM’s distinct and sensual voice surprised many fans, causing quite a stir within the fandom. However, not everyone was happy with his signature. A specific line in RM’s verse drew criticism. In the song, RM says, “We paved the way”, which some listeners took issue with.

The lyric quickly became a hot topic on X (formerly Twitter), with 76,100 related posts at the time of writing. Much of the controversy arose from a misunderstanding of the verse. Some interpreted it as “Asian men led the way“, while the actual text is “For Asia, man, we have paved the way“, indicating that Asia as a whole has made great strides, rather than RM or Asian men in particular.
