The member of the BTS Jin (Kim Seok-Jin) and the Born Korea CEO Baek Jong-Won, the joint agricultural lamp, the Jini lamp, were subjected to scruples after being reported to the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service for the violation of the law on the origin labeling.
On September 23, a post on an online community emerged that stated that the Jini lamp had been reported. The individual, identified as a one, said he personally filed the complaint, claiming that some of the company’s highball products brought an misleading labeling.
The products in question were flavors of the series of distilled liqueurs released last year, including plum and watermelon. While the official website of the Jini lamp listed “Plum concentrated (Chile)” and “concentrated waternelon (USA)” as ingredients of foreign origin, some pages of product information have labeled them by mistake as “national”. According to reports, the errors were corrected.
On September 24, a representative of the Jini lamp told Chosun.com: “All products for Jini lamps have been verified as compliant with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Food and drugs safety regulations and the labeling of the origins is carefully provided on product labels.” They added that during online sales, the details of the product of other pages of flavor were erroneously published for a short period but have been promptly fixed.
The company also stressed: “If an official investigation is requested, we will fully collaborate and reiterate that there are no violations regarding the labeling of the origins on the details of the product themselves.”
According to the Korean law, the violations of the labeling of origins can lead to a maximum of seven years in prison or fines up to 100 million victories. In particular, Born Korea had already dealt with the accusation in June for a similar violation that involves the company and one of its employees.
