BLACKPINK’s Jisoo’s response to a past interview recently resurfaced, receiving high praise from internet users.
Notably, in an interview with fashion magazine Elle Korea in July 2023, Jisoo was asked a rather “controversial” question: whether BLACKPINK had paved the way for other female K-pop artists.
“BLACKPINK headlined BST Hyde Park 2023 on July 2nd, looking at the festival website, they introduced BLACKPINK as ‘K-Pop Trailblazer’. Do you really think BLACKPINK paved the way?”the interviewer asked.
Responding to this, Jisoo wisely replied, ” Maybe half and half? We also walked the path that others have walked, but I think we also paved some parts when we debuted at a time when the platform was expanding and K-pop accessibility was increasing. Just as there was a time when we walked on a smooth path, I hope we can help smooth the path for those who come after. It would be nice if they could pave their own path and connect with each other.”
Jisoo’s response, which not only shows respect for the elders but also acknowledges her group’s success and expresses hope for future generations of artists, has received much praise.
So far, the topic mentioning this response has received over 4,000 likes and nearly 70,000 views on the SNS X platform (formerly Twitter), with many netizens acknowledging Jisoo’s mature perspective and praising her “class” and “humility.”
