BLACKPINK’s Jisoo Announced as Winner of Madame Figaro Rising Star Award at Canneseries 2026

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has been announced as the winner of the 2026 Madame Figaro Rising Star Award at the Festival International Series in Cannes (Canneseries), where she will be honored during the opening ceremony on April 23 in Cannes, France.

Canneseries confirmed on March 10 that Jisoo will receive the Madame Figaro Rising Star award at this year’s edition of the festival.

The honor will be presented during the opening ceremony on April 23, where he is expected to walk the festival’s signature pink carpet to collect the award. Canneseries 2026 will take place from April 23 to 28 in the French city of Cannes, second Soompi.

Festival organizers described Jisoo as “a global K-pop icon and rising television star” and said the award highlights a “promising personality to watch” in the drama industry. The award is presented in collaboration with the French magazine Madame Figaro and highlights emerging talents whose careers are gaining momentum internationally.

Canneseries artistic director Albin Lewi praised Jisoo’s “artistic journey, her ability to conquer new creative territory and her global aura” as key reasons for her selection.

The festival noted that she represents a new generation of artists moving between music and acting and “crossing boundaries” between different creative fields. Organizers also highlighted how her recent acting roles have strengthened her presence beyond K-pop.

Jisoo first debuted as an actress in the 2021 Korean drama “Snowdrop”. She recently returned to the small screen with the Netflix series “Boyfriend on Demand,” which helped expand her profile as a television actress.

Jisoo, born Kim Ji-soo in 1995, rose to fame as a member of BLACKPINK, one of the world’s biggest K-pop girl groups. News18 reported.

In addition to group activities, he launched a successful solo career with his debut album “Me” and hit single “Flower”, further building his global fan base. His move into acting was seen as a key step in broadening his creative portfolio beyond music.

The Madame Figaro Rising Star award is given annually to an emerging figure in the series industry who has become a major presence in the industry.

Previous recipients include international actresses such as Sydney Sweeney, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Marie Colomb, Ella Purnell, Morfydd Clark and Phoebe Dynevor, many of whom have gone on to direct major television projects.

By adding Jisoo to this list, Canneseries signals confidence in her continued growth as both a global music star and a developing film actress, as per In news.
